What Size Backdrop Fits Your Trade Show Booth?
Share
Choose a trade show backdrop by comparing the event's approved display area with the exact assembled dimensions of the product, not by matching two size labels. Bigfoot currently lists 8 ft, 10 ft, 15 ft, and 20 ft selections for its 3D Straight and 3D Circle backdrops. Start with the exhibitor manual, mark the usable rear area after furniture and neighboring displays are considered, then choose the largest listed option whose complete dimensions and artwork zone fit that confirmed space.
Start with the exhibitor manual, not the product menu
A booth may be advertised with a familiar width, but that does not automatically make the same-numbered backdrop selection a fit. The event manual may control the display footprint, maximum height, placement, setbacks, sightlines, and whether structures can extend toward neighboring spaces. Those requirements come before the visual preference.
Find the current exhibitor manual or ask the organizer for the rules that apply to your assigned booth. Record:
- The dimensions of the assigned space
- The permitted display height and depth
- Any setback or sightline requirements
- Whether the display must remain inside the rear portion of the booth
- Any rules for shared walls, neighboring exhibitors, or open sides
- How the space will be accessed during setup and removal
If the manual and the product information use different measurements or terminology, pause and get clarification. Do not resolve the conflict by guessing.
Measure the usable rear area
Next, sketch the booth from above. Mark the table, counter, product racks, storage, screens, equipment, and any area that must stay open. The space left for the backdrop is the usable rear area, which may be smaller than the booth's stated footprint.
Record the maximum available width, height, and depth for the complete assembled display. Also note anything that could cover the artwork, such as a monitor, tall product rack, or person working at a counter. A backdrop can technically occupy the space while still losing its most important message behind booth fixtures.
Use the manufacturer's exact product dimensions or current dimension drawing for the final check. Bigfoot's live menu labels the choices 8 ft, 10 ft, 15 ft, and 20 ft, but the label alone should not be treated as a complete assembled-dimension specification.
Bigfoot's current backdrop size selections
As of September 28, 2026, Bigfoot's live Custom Backdrops collection includes a 3D Straight Backdrop and a 3D Circle Backdrop. Both product menus list these size selections:
- 8 ft
- 10 ft
- 15 ft
- 20 ft
Both products also list Single Sided and Double Sided choices. The live option names are verified, but this article does not infer construction, reverse-side appearance, or exact assembled dimensions from those labels. Confirm any detail that affects the floor plan, visibility, or artwork before ordering.
How to compare the four selections
Begin with the 8 ft selection
Use the 8 ft option as the first comparison when the measured rear area is limited or when the backdrop will share the booth with substantial furniture, displays, or storage. Check the complete product dimensions against the permitted width, height, and depth. Do not assume it fits solely because the assigned booth has a familiar small-booth label.
Compare the 10 ft selection
Consider the 10 ft option when the manual and measured rear area support the complete display and the artwork will remain visible around the planned furniture. Verify that the structure, not only the printed face, stays inside the approved space.
Reserve 15 ft and 20 ft selections for confirmed larger plans
The 15 ft and 20 ft options require a larger confirmed display plan. They may be candidates for wider assignments or combined booth spaces, but only the organizer's current rules and the exact product dimensions can establish fit. Confirm the complete footprint, height, neighboring-display requirements, and setup access before finalizing artwork or placing the order.
This sequence is a way to narrow the catalog, not a substitute for a dimension drawing. If two options fit, choose based on the artwork's needs, the amount of furniture in front, transport and handling plans, and the way visitors will approach the booth.
Account for Straight versus Circle before approving the floor plan
Straight and Circle are separate live products, so do not assume their shapes occupy space in the same way. Compare each product's exact assembled dimensions with the same booth sketch. Check width, height, depth, and the position of the visible graphic area.
Shape is a separate decision from size. First confirm which products fit. Then compare how the approved options frame the logo, headline, product imagery, and people standing in the booth. If you are still deciding between a backdrop and a smaller hanging display, read Banner vs. Backdrop for a Trade Show Booth before choosing a format.
Plan the visible artwork zone
A backdrop's job is usually to identify the exhibitor and support the booth from behind. Put the most important identity high enough to remain visible after the counter, products, screen, and staff are in place. Keep critical copy away from areas likely to be covered in the actual layout.
Use one clear identity message, one short supporting line when necessary, and a restrained visual system. Detailed product lists, schedules, phone numbers, and several calls to action are better handled by closer-view materials. Follow Bigfoot's current Artwork Guidelines and use the exact template for the selected product and size.
Mock up the complete booth, not just the backdrop. Place the planned furniture and people in front of the artwork at approximate scale. This reveals whether a logo or headline sits behind a screen, rack, or staff position before the file reaches production.
Choose Single Sided or Double Sided from the real viewing plan
Map every direction from which attendees can see the backdrop. If the rear faces a wall or an area that is not part of the approved presentation, ask whether a second printed side has a useful role. If both sides may be visible, confirm the current product construction, printed appearance, artwork requirements, and event placement with Bigfoot before selecting Double Sided.
Do not use the side choice to solve an uncertain floor plan. The organizer should confirm the allowed placement first. The product selection should follow that approved plan.
Use a fit worksheet before ordering
Complete this comparison for every option under consideration:
- Assigned booth width, height, and depth
- Organizer-approved display width, height, depth, and setbacks
- Exact assembled product dimensions
- Required setup and removal access
- Furniture, storage, product, and equipment locations
- Visible artwork area after those items are placed
- Primary attendee approach direction
- Selected Straight or Circle product
- Selected 8 ft, 10 ft, 15 ft, or 20 ft option
- Selected Single Sided or Double Sided option
- Exact product-and-size artwork template
For the rest of the display plan, use the Small-Team Trade Show Booth Checklist to coordinate the backdrop with the table, signage, artwork files, and event materials.
Make the final size decision
The right backdrop is the option that fits the approved assembled space, preserves the booth's working layout, and keeps the important artwork visible. It is not automatically the option whose label resembles the booth's advertised size. Compare Bigfoot's current Custom Backdrops, request or verify the exact dimensions for the selected configuration, and approve the artwork only after the product and floor plan agree.
